An Aggressive New Initiative In Haiti
The need never ends in Haiti. But as difficult as the conditions are across the country, the beauty of the people and their eagerness to help one another always shines through.
Now, Water With Blessings’ Haiti coordinator Gerry Delaquis tells there is a new push with a good friend of the Village By Village Program. Dr. Helman Ceneus (pictured left) is Haiti’s Director of Public Health. He is encouraging us to equip and train 7,200 Water Women in his home area of St. Michel — and to complete the project before the end of this year.
“This is our biggest effort yet, double the size of any before,” Gerry said. “St. Michel is both a city and the name of the commune, which is like a county in the US. With Dr. Helman’s help, we’re trying to cover all the areas of the commune.
“He’s not just a collaborator — he’s a partner with us. Working with the people he has identified is the best collaboration we’ve had. They’re very organized. They not only coordinate, they provide a place for the team to sleep, and transportation to and all around St. Michel. We never have any problems.”
And they never have to delay the training.
“The women are always there, waiting for us,” Gerry said.
Using the necessary coronavirus precautions, these new Haitian Water Women focus intently on their training. Soon they will be providing clean water to their own and 3 other families.
Please consider underwriting more women to join them in this life-transforming work.
